So, found a new (new to me, the store has been there a while) music store in west Pensacola. I rode out there with a friend to see if they could repair my Pignose G40V tube amp. Hope so, it is a great amp. It’s called Blue Angel Music and was a very surprising place; lots of guitars, amps and drums. They have a healthy collection of vintage Fender amps, an extremely nice staff, and are the home of John Landgraff pedals and Bob Burt’s stuff. If you have not been there check it out; well worth the time. Good music shops in the Florida panhandle are hard to come by and force me to shop at Guitar Center a lot. Hopefully this will be my new place.
The Sundry Folk Festival is less than a week away. We are very excited and are busy lining up the final details (lighting, P.A. system, food, promoting). This will be our debut show so that alone is worth the price of admission (which, by the way, is just a can of soup). While at the SFF you can pick up the super limited edition “Those Long Dead” first pressing stickers. Get ‘em while you can for only a dollar as they are sure to be collector’s items. Although those “collector’s” will most likely be our spouses and parents.
If this goes off well it might be a fairly regular event with maybe 4 a year. Hope to see everyone out there.
Until then,

For those that do not know, J. D. Salinger died yesterday; he was 91. If you do not know who Holden Caulfield is, you need to read Catcher in the Rye. Salinger was one of the best modern writers this country has put out, even though he has not published anything since 1965. He was called the king of short stories and these stories captured the idea that alienated youth was something of an event before Marlon Brando, the beatniks, the hippies or really anyone prior. Go read Catcher in the Rye if you have not, or re-read if it has been a while.

On Saturday, February 20, the first Sundry Folk Festival will begin at the home behind Covenant Community Church at 7 p.m. The idea behind SFF is set up an intimate venue and bring some local talent to sing about God and see what happens. Drinks in the order of coffee, tea, and cider will be provided along with various finger foods (probably brownies, cookies, and other health food). The price of admission is only that of a can of soup that will be taken to a local food bank. For the first of what will hopefully be multiple festivals we pulled together some great talent. Mike Arsenault will start things off followed by Those Long Dead; leaving Gileah then Chris Taylor to finish things out. Tell your friends and even bring a few, the house will not hold many people so get there early to enjoy the entire show.
See you there,
